Swamp Thing was just flat-out amazing. Francesco Francavilla is THAT DUDE. His art is beautifully creepy.

Animal Man, Earth 2, Dial H, Action Comics and Smallville were also amazing to read, but Earth 2 stood out for me.
(click to show/hide)
Terry Sloan vs Michael Holt? DC's gay wedding ends in a train wreck? Jay Garrick is the new Wally West?!
Amazing!

And then there's Avengers vs X-Men 5. I swear, the only positive from this is that I don't have to see that horrid art from JRJR after #5.

Phoenix-powered X-Men? That's the big twist?

Get out. Seriously. Pack up your shit and get out. Everyone involved in this fiasco is a damn fool.

Oh, my quarrel isn't with Brubaker. His Winter Soldier gives him a pass in my book. But Fraction? The man wrote Iron Man as just another generic arrogant fuck, whereas in his run on Invincible Iron Man, he gives Stark more of a personality. This reeks of editorial mandate.

Ish 6 is done by Hickman and Coipel. Despite it's a new artist (miles and miles better than JRJR) and that Hickman is writing, my hope isn't particularly high for its quality to pick up. AvX, at the end of the day, is about making the X-Men terrorists, killing off Cyclops, and that the Avengers are left relatively unscathed. (They got Marvel $1 Billion in 19 days, so they deserve the pampering).

Action Comics #10? You're right, dude, the JL are dicks for not adopting those hamsters.

The Minutemen prequel was amazing to read, not gonna front. It plays off Moore's Under The Hood biography perfectly.

Oh, and I re-read Swampy 10. Francavilla is the shit! THE SHIT! Fucking awesome with the pencils and inks!

Good news regarding the Zero issues:

Superman to be written by Lobdell and drawn by Rocafort.
JLI cancelled! (Thank God!)

Bad news:

Resurrection Man and Captain Atom are getting the ax. Shocked that Captain Atom is getting the boot, JT Krul scored a homerun writing Nate Adam.

Oh, I read JLI. It ain't that there's no love for Booster, it's that Dan Jurgens made a hot diarrhea out of this book. Rocket Red dead, Vixen, Fire, and Ice injured, shoe=horning Godiva every issue... Jurgens took Winnick's ideas and crapped down its throats. That book deserved to be canned, even with the inclusion of OMAC. I personally stopped reading after issue 8, and I'm better for it now that Dial H has taken its place.

Regarding this week's reads...

Batman 10... READ THAT FUCKING ISSUE. JUST DO IT.
Green Lantern 10.... here we go again!
Saucer Country 4, to quote Jim Ross, business has just picked up!

X-Men Legacy's issue on Frenzy made me like her already.
ASM 687... good issue, but I'm not sure if Spidey's allusion was true.
Spider-Men 1... oh my Arceus.

Woah it's like he wanted to write a Booster Gold series but DC told him the closest he can get to it is to write a team series with BG in it...and he was still ticked off @_@

Yeah this arc was just...filler...I dunno how I feel about it, it had some good stuff but in the end...eh. In a way I think Hal should quit being GL, he's been through a lot of stuff @_@
Speaking of which GL TAS Season 1 just ended, def. check it out it's pretty good.

Spider-Men 1... oh my Arceus.

Hey it's Bendis on Spiderman, I love Bendis on Spidey, lookin' forward to the next issue~

For this week I read-
Daredevil 14-
That final page was hilarious, that dude better be careful messing with Doom's swag tho. Gonna be interesting to see how Matt is gonna get out of this, I personally
(click to show/hide)
like to see characters handle situations when they don't have their powers

Hmm dunno how I feel about Punisher 12, was hoping Rachel would take into consideration what Matt told her during the Omega Effect arc.

Wonder Woman 10 was good, but I still don't like her new origin.

Saga 4 was great, The Will is a friggin' badass, I honestly can't wait to see them encounter him. ...and anyone who isn't reading this may as well die a virgin, read it, READ IT!

Anyone else read Comedian #1?

Megaman 14 was good but the Wily segments were rushed, it's a shame Ian couldn't write the story arcs in say 6 issues, it would make the progression of the stories much better and coherent-

I just read both Avengers Academy #33 and Emma was amazing. Also read Dominique Laveau Voodoo Child. Very enjoyable comic, but too bad it's being cancelled in August. I doubt more readers will save it, but if anyone has three dollars to spare, please support the comic.

AVX 6... It took 5 writers and 5 issues for this book to be even remotely interesting. Hickman and Coipel just brought this book back to legitimacy, if only for this month. At least Marvel's rewarding Hickman by putting him as the writer of Avengers in September.

So some of the stuff I read this week include:
Sonic Universe 41
Start of a new story arc where Silver teams up with other characters including Elias in an attempt to get Ixis off the throne or...just taking him down or some such.
Great art from Bates as usual, and while it was more of an introductary for Shard and Larry, making the issue somewhat slow, it was still good and I look forward to the next issues.
Shard is such a bro too~

All-Star Western 10
Great issue, and poort Dr. Arkham can't catch a break lol. The Bat Lash story at the end was funny too.

FF #19
Friggin' brilliant with some hilarious scenes here and there, I am really worried about how the series'll be after Hickman leaves the series =/

I really need to catch up on that, may reread it then watch the TV show...and play the video game when it goes on sale later this year @_@

Don't nobody spoil The Dark Knight Rises ya hear! We only get it during Mid-August =_=

Great comic week for me-
Sonic Universe 42:
Naugus was the best part of the issue IMO, but overall I much prefer the Shard & friends part of the story. Hopefully Shard'll remain or show up in more stories in the future.

All-Star Western 11:
(click to show/hide)
Really hope the Court of Owls doesn't overpower the Crime Bible Cult, it's one thing to promote this new fad, but making them too strong is going too far.
Also Tellulah <3

Aquaman 11:
Good issue overall, but I still feel like Geoff is going on a slow pace with this series.

Batman Inc. #3:
Book of the week~ ...and I am now 90% sure Damian is a Tsundere
(click to show/hide)
He mocks Rick during the issue, but at the end uses the code name 'Redwing', not being too subtle here kiddo. Still I relly dislike the red+black color for Nightwing, even tho Tim managed to pull it off with his Robin costume before the retcon.
As for the issue itself, it was amazing and I am looking forward to Bats turning the tide next issue oh and
(click to show/hide)
Batcow BETTER be Damian's back-up!

Dinosaurs vs. Aliens #1:
Great art, and a good first issue, looking forward to the next one and I hope that by the end it'll be a great read.

FF #20:
Grown-up Valeria is what Young Valeria should be like.
(click to show/hide)
...and Future Franklin telling his younger self to go to a normal school is wonderful

Green Lantern #11:
Another Geoff series that has a slow pace I feel, but overall a good issue, liked the Black Hand segments, and that final spread begs the questions
(click to show/hide)
Is Atrocitus leading the Manhunters against the Guardians or the GL Corps?
Kyle becoming a Red Lantern
Guy in jail
The Black Ring having a role in the fall of the Corps
Oh and the word on that guy's arm in the spread is 'Courage/Bravery' in Arabic, glad to see them finally writing something properly haha...which kinda makes me wonder...who is that guy?

TMNT 12 & Casey Jones:
CJ was a Wonderful issue, #12 was good, but I still hope
(click to show/hide)
Hob isn't dead XP
Looking forward to the next story arc, but hope it'll be a little faster paced.

Transformers: More than meets the eye #7
I don't think I'm giving this series much focus or attention, RiD is my fav. of the new direction of the series, but this book is written by the authors of Last Stand of the Wreckers which was brilliant. Still the end of this issue put a smile on my face...and considering that the game is coming out soon, I should've seen it coming lol.
