I dunno, I have mixed feelings about this.
Having played Ninja Theory's last 2 games it's nearly impossible to expect anything more than maybe some nice graphics. You can play a suprisingly large chunk of Enslaved with 1 hand. Hopefully Ninja Theory have at least got better at making controls more responsive.
Just glad it's a alternate universe reboot now.

For the love of god... Why the fuck is he flying naked?
<3 *me gusta face* He really looks much better now, they buffed him up and adjusted his face. He doesn't look like a really skinny emo guy anymore.

Tameen, the games director, had Dante remodeled because he kept getting called out for modeling Dante off of himself.
Just glad he no longer has Tameen's hairstyle.
Not awesome.

Got to love how they bashed DMC fans, and bashed DMC and Bayonetta. Yet now they're saying Bayonetta is the best and they're aiming to be better than it, and sucking up to fans. Stay classy Ninja Theory and Capcom.

My first thought after the latest news was that maybe it would have been better to make a new game with a new protagonist altogether. They already decided to set it in a different universe. The guy they designed as a protagonist isn't Dante in any way, even after the remodelling.
I understand that the "Devil May Cry" name is already well established, which obviously helps sales, however I don't think this game will bring much good to the Devil May Cry series.

Well demo is out.
You know how you can unlock Trish in DMC2, which gives you the DMC1 moveset and combo style? Yeah I liked DMC2 after you unlock Trish WAAAAAAAAY more than this pos, which is what this game feels like, in fact this is a gameplay sequel to DMC2. Plus the difficulty of the demo made DMC2 look like DMC3. Wasn't quite vanilla NG3 bad...I think. Style switching is like Heavenly Sword in which you have to hold down either trigger for which style you want, yeah sucked in Heavenly Sword and still sucks now.
Animations felt really stiff and clunky to me, and the not quite solid 30 frames per second isn't helping. Aireal combos just felt awkward, and I thought animations for it were pretty bad and sometimes just looked silly (didn't flow, or feel, half as good as it is in Bayonetta, or even Nero in DMC4). For a developer known for visuals (and not much else).....the Unreal Engine has seen better days. Plus the lack of the series signature lock-on button is just annoying, and of course motions for special move buttons are changed to Bayonetta's motions without the lock-on button shortcuts (like Metal Gear Rising, but they still left in a freaking lock on button, just don't have to hold it down, since removing a lock-on button altogether with this type of gameplay is fucking retarded).
Dodging is back to being tied to a button like in DMC2, however it's now tied to a shoulder button (R1) so more blatant Bayonetta rip-offage. Yeah that's right, you have to hold the triggers to change styles, yet dodge is R1. It's so awesome not being able to dodge while in R2 style. I forgot to check to see if you can customize controls though, or how much you can change if you can.
Well the developers said Bayonetta was the action gaming they were aiming to beat, and this is still a Capcom game. So to keep it short, in typical Capcom tradition they just ripped-off there competition and made everything much worse to make it different.
Well demo is available to everyone, you can play it and see if you like it or have a massive brain fart.

Played the demo twice, ok, the lack of a lock-on button really does get in the way. I hope having the two evade buttons does serve a better purpose than it did in the demo, because simply enough, any one of those could be used to lock-on targets. Though i'm not opposed to having the dodge button, I hated the dodging mechanic on DmC1, 3 and 4, so IMO this is a welcome addition. Combat felt ok, it borrows ideas from DmC4 to pull enemies toward you or pull yourself towards enemies for combos only this time around you can choose instead of being contextual to the enemy.
The Son of Sparda difficulty threw in some monsters that could only be killed by either the Axe or the Scythe, they're color coded, this makes the combat more bothersome because you're forced to deal with more than one enemy but the weapon especific enemy stays around the others and get in the way or outright blocks your attack and leaves you open because you accidentally hit him while trying to deal with the other enemies.
The 30 fps, oddly enough didn't get much in the way of combat, granted it doesn't make the game look very fluid, but the in-game cut-scenes look more awkward because of it than the actual game, as for visuals the art-style and how the environment changes in real-time look good but whenever the game does up-close shots in the in-game cut-scenes the shading looks pretty bad.
Overall, i'm not impressed but I don't feel like this is a bad game, certainly not worth all the hate it's getting BUT I do also think this is an unnecessary reboot. Based on the demo i'm guessing it'll be an OK game.

Ok the combat was pretty fun. Doing the air combos I need to get use to after launching the enemies in the air. Double jump feels stiff and angel float feels kind of slow. I find the two evade buttons convenient to me when I'm using the scythe or axe. I read somewhere the dodge has some different uses depending on what weapon is equipped. The no lock button does need to get use to it, but it wasn't a problem to me during the combat. What I really want is a lock on camera because it gets annoying at some certain platforms.
The boss dialogue wasn't enjoyable with all the swearing, but I just can't help laugh at some of it. Overall I see this game turning out to be decent.

^ So what did you think? Also I have to correct myself, both R1 and L1 is the dodge button so you can dodge without exiting a style. Can't believe I overlooked that first time playing.
Still pretty combersome though.
Also ending was supposedly leaked. Sounds fake as all hell to me, but everyone swears it's legit.
(click to show/hide)
The game starts out as a prequel, but turns into an alternate universe Star Trek style. Basically, half-angel, half-demon people have been trying to save the universe by destroying different timelines on their time machine that runs on the tears of children. Classic Dante shows up at the very end, implying that DMC5 will be Dante & lame new Dante teaming up trying to save time and space.
On the otherhand it seems far too stupid to be made up.... Also kind of a rip-off of the former canon, but now uncanon, DMC novels that took place between DMC1 and 2 setting up DMC2.
Anyway Capcom should have hired this guy to do all gameplay trailers and such. He makes the game look good, and unclunky.
