I think that your post makes good sense, DOA isn't difficult to play at all, but i wonder if thats a bad thing ... its just nice to do all these flashy moves n stuff without them being so stressful like it is for me with BB. I wouldn't mind a bit more technicality with the fighting system.

On the other hand ... VF is tough ! IMHO, its the toughest fighting game out there :S, not easy at all, it would be nice if they found a way to tone it down a little bit, maybe make it much more accessible ?

I agree that VF is more difficult (almost too difficult) but because of how difficult it is you feel pretty bad ass when you get combos off. I will say that DoA does look pretty and for what mashing you do the result is badass

I agree 100% with you on that, the result is always bad-ass with Tekken, VF and DOA, Its the process that makes these 3 games different from each other, combine that with the type of characters and how diverse they are along with the technical game mechanics and you got 3 awesome fighting games.

This is why i don't bother picking sides when it comes to fighting games, too much to enjoy to allow some idiot to make you hate them.

DOA wouldn't be so bad if not for the retarded reversal system.

If the reversal system was used with a proper timing motion (say Tekken's b 1+3/2+4) or a parry attack, I'm sure it would improve a lot. I personally love the dynamics with the stages... a thing that Tekken almost got in in T4 but somehow scrapped in the end (tell me you didn't enjoy slamming some fucker in the phone booths of Shinjuku or breaking a pillar in the Parking Lot or the Statue?).

And I must admit also DOA4 had lovely stages... I really love that one in the Vegas strip.

I don't know if you guys had chance to play doa4 for much than a couple of matches, but the reversal system was far more balanced than doa2. not only the reversal timing was much shorter, but also having two mid-counters one for punches and one for kicks involved a great knowledge of the character you were playing against. not to mention that reversal are also punished with twice the damage from throws.

Doa4 match - Tina vs Ein

this is me playing as tina. as you can see there's no way reversal spamming is going to help. the last suplex almost got a 50% damage for that missed reversal

Tell me how being able to reversal during hitstun is balanced, let alone makes any sense at all?

hitstun in this game do not stun the opponent, but change the effect of other moves, like launcher that wouldn't launch on normal hit or launcher that may launch higher for more damaging combos or airthrow. consider it more like a setup to inflict more damege instead of stunning. anyway since most of launchers are mids, in that situation is common to try a mid reversal. that's why experienced player look for that mistake to punish even more.

and about making any sense, I don't see any sense at all in most stuff that happens in fighters, like bouncing on the ground or wall like a ball, or being punched 5-6 times on mid air before falling on the ground.

I'm sure Izzy meant the sense inside a common competitive and well tested fighting game, such as being able to counter while being in hit stun.

How the hell are you supposed to safely land attacks on your opponent, let alone combo them, if they can reversal you almost anytime while they are in hitsun? That's just the most ridiculous concept ever, and it's no wonder nobody takes DOA serious (Except Tom Brady lol). Actually, it reminds me alot of combo breakers in Killer Instinct, players are just combo breaking back and fourth, trading hits, until one of them is launched and can't escape.

And Itagaki called Dead Or Alive 4 the "definitive" fighting game, then talks all this shit about Tekken. lol get serhouz.

Team Ninja better get their shit together without that oatmeal faced pervert and find a way to make this game competitive.

LMFAO ! I was gonna spill my coffee cuz of you ! Awesome terminology xD

Dunno, the whole reversal thing never bothered me, i see your point though, but i think the trick is to mix it up more and not be too predictable. Its all a matter of how much damage you wanna do X how risky it might be to continue. Also, the reversal was REALLY shitty in 3, and in 4 it seems like the window to reverse is smaller, it wasn't easy if my memory serves me.

Unfortunately if Ninja Gaiden is anything to go by, Itakagi still knows more about games design than the rest of his former team put together.

This. If Itagaki led Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden, to Hayashi led Team Ninja's Ninja Gaiden III is anything to go by, then the future of Team Ninja isn't looking too bright. Also doesn't help Itagaki took the best members of Team Ninja with him when he formed Valhalla, along with some members of the original Virtua Fighter 5 team.

I haven't played any Ninja Gaiden games since the NES days, so what is going wrong with Ninja Gaiden 3?

Enemies will fall to there knees and beg you not to kill them, and run away. Quick time events. Weapons you obtain in game is limited to only katana variations, Hayashi confirmed to OXM that weapons from NG1 and 2 will be DLC (so you got to pay additional money for variety, that's copied and pasted from existing games). Really shallow and dumbed down gameplay, and needlessly over streamlined game mechanics on top of the already severly toned down difficulty. Horrible forced in multiplayer just so the game has multiplayer. Kunai climb which is wall climbing, specifically directly copied from a sequance in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Stealth sections that slow down the pace of the game. Just to name a few things.

Also they added this steel on bone thing. Basically in the middle of combos your sword will get stuck in a enemy and you will have to hit a button prompt to get it unstuck, so you can't even do combos anymore.
