Kasumi was always my favorite to use (like said she has some similar qualities to Sarah's gameplay), glad her appearance now matches that gameplay quality. Sarah I'm quite confident will be the VF character that transfers over the best because of that similarity to Kasumi (Kasumi is always solid).

I am a sarah player on vf5 and I spent really a lot of time playing doa4. only thing sarah shares with kasumi is that sommersault kick. she is definitely closer to zack's moves.

to be honest, i think i see the similarity in terms of both characters being solid. There is just some form of solidity that i feel both characters share in both their respectful games.
I think maybe Kasumi and Sarah could be considered the same tier in both games... am i right in assuming that ?

.......Me and Crim didn't mean they play alike in that "they have the same moves" we ment they have similar fundamentals in how they play and inputs. If you're a Sarah player, and ever played Kasumi in DOA, I don't see how you couldn't notice it.

kasumi is way stronger and faster in doa4 than sarah in vf5 (which is a much better balanced game). and no if you have ever played doa4 kasumi was all about jumping kicks, that also forced you to stand up from the ground and poking with those open hand punches that have insane range.

Finished watching the videos shown here.
And did they have to post "I'm A Fighter" at the end of their demos?

We weren't just comparing Sarah's VF5 version to Kasumi's DOA4 version, but there fundamentals throughout the whole series of each franchise. No ones saying they're exactly the same. Sarah has a second stance too when talking about the different fundamentals between the 2 (not to mention different fighting styles), and of course the different fundamentals between the games, which is what me and Crim mean, thanks to those similar fundamentals with moves and inputs Sarah has with Kasumi (both are even the more beginner friendly characters in each franchise) working her moveset into DOA's different system will be easier, and Sarah should fit into DOA's game engine quite well and be quit solid.
Sarah was a bit nerfed in VF5 because of system changes, especially with the lower overall damage compared to previous VF's (DOA4 on the other hand has freaking high damage output in general), Sarah's better in Final Showdown. Also besides that good range, Kasumi also had the fastest jab in all of DOA4. Had to play DOA4 characters in a a bit of a annoying way either way because of the counter system (which is said to be fixed in 5 since the demo release).

I do hope so, the counter system changes in DOA4 really wrecked it for me.

You could counter during hitstun. This especially ruined single player since AI could always perfectly counter because of controller reading so they would constantly counter you mid ground combo (more luck required than just skill in its damn single player), and to top it off counters did high damage. So you could just mash counters and hope for the best. Characters like Ryu who could easily get the opponent off the ground were made even better/stronger because of this too obviously.
Since the DOA5 demo they supposadly removed counters during hitstun, shortened the counter window even further, and made recovery on whiffed counters longer.

^ that.
DOA2 might have had a more generous counter window but at least it didn't just let you counter whenever the hell you wanted.

So, if anyone already played it (the demo), how does the game feel? Is it polished enough to be competitive? Or it's still a broken piece of crap (I never liked it precisely for that)? I see the counters are more refined and now they're punisheable on whiff (kinda like Tekken's), but overall the game can be deep and evolve into serious competitiveness?

In NG3 news the Wii-U version sounds like it might actually be playable, and is uncensored.
http://e3.nintendo.com/games/#/wiiu/ninja-gaiden
Since this version was in development alongside the PS3/360 version, which itself hasn't been out that long, and this version is do out this year, this is kind of fishy. Would explain the Sigma version talk before game was out. Release bad unfinished/unpolished game, scam people that made the mistake of buying it with glitchy DLC, give Nintendo good version because of recent partnerships with them, release WiiU version with additional content as Sigma 3, get people to rebuy the game along with people that skipped original because it was crap, dry hump cash in bed. It could happen.

Interview with a top DOA player named Rodriguez, and his consultation work on DOA5. Maybe this will help with your question a bit Vecta.
