Hoooooly cow,
Ive borrowed T6 of a friend of mine for the weekend.
Having not played a Tekken since 3 and dabbling in tag I thought I'd be a little out of practice but Jeez I ROYALLY SUCK.

I'm so outta my comfort zone it's incredible, it seems I only win fights by fluke. I'm loving the design of a lot of characters and the customising mode so I might bear with it till Im at a level of at least basic competence.

I gotta lot of practice ahead, Im generally a King player but I'm gonna start afresh with someone new I think. Anyone suggest any potential suspects?

Try either Leo or Miguel, both are friendly for newcomers. Lili it's also fine, not exactly new but still recent character.

I read it like this: The guy said he used to main King and that he wanted to play a new (as in different) character, not necessarily a "new" (as in recent) character. Not only that, but he hasn't played since Tekken 3. Lili is pretty new given that.

You might want to be careful with Miguel. Accidently tapping both kicks will get you thrown into that stance and possibly taunting. Not to mention the fact that some of his moves have ridiculous wind up. I'd agree with Vecta and say Lili and Leo are the two easiests ones to pick up. Paul is also a good choice.

This list is pretty handy for an overall view of the character difficulties so you'll know what you're getting into.

Alright guys lets be honest... if you want to learn most of the basics there is to Tekken 6

you gotta play JACK 6

the only things you basically need for Jack is (not including moves for combos and followups)

Side Step df+2
Back Dash df+2
db+1
db+2
ff+1
ff+2
Magic 4
WS+1
Crouching db+1
WS+4
2 or 2 1
df 1
Generic Crouching 4

Thanks for teh advice guys, Im gonna fanny around with those characters today and see what happens.

(Prediction: "YOU LOSE!...... CONTINUE?")

For what it's worth, whilst the Tekken fighting system isnt currently working for me, I'm really into the character design and the huge customisation options.

I turned Bryan into Krauser and Wesker, Raven into Geese Howard, Steve into a mobster, and Marshall Law into Bruce Lee.

Sure thing! Just as soon as I get a chance of course. I forgot to mention that I also made Nina Williams into Jill Valentine (RE 5).

Had a good weekend with Tekken 6, Still not convinced it's for me, but really enjoyed fighting both off and online. Played through most of the scenario, but if it werent for all the unlockable items I wouldnt have gotten too far into it to be honest.

Playing as King (who I have some degree of competence with from previous games) and started with Lili (Who I really enjoy scrapping as) and Dragunov (Who I think is ace as hell but find him hard to work with.)

Im never gonna get REALLY into Tekken, but have had a lot of fun with T6 and will keep working at it.

...Yo, I didnt say this was going to be an interesting post  Wink

After a week of training I think my Miguel is on par with my Lars now. Really got down his high/low game and his poking game. Now it's time to master Yoshi... but with only 3 months away until Final Round XIII... I think I'm going to stick with just Lars and Miguel as my mains.

Favorite combo with Miguel right now has gotta be his d/f+2 1, df+1, df+4 1->F(SAV), 1 2 1, W!, b+2 2, B!, d/f+4 1 1

Open up a Miguel thread, Sol, I follow you up with some combos. I'm also liking a lot of Micky's stuff... but been hooked up a bit more with Bruce, man, he's amazing!

Well, the obvious answer is that if you enjoyed the campaign, wouldn't mind doing it again, and have a friend to play with then there you have it. What's the point of multiplayer to begin with? To play with others of course! But you already know that and so do a bunch of other gamers who're probably wondering the same thing.

I'd say they implemented it, because players wanted it (cried about it), but it's so late now that most people probably don't care. Personally, given my current situation I wish they'd have considered people like me who have people nearby who can play, but lack internet. I've already beaten this mode as well, but I really wish I could have played through with my co-workers. I wouldn't mind going again either, but "thems the ropes". They should have had this done with the game when it first came out. I was very unhappy when I saw this obviously two player mode wasn't two player.

I'm one of the few who enjoyed SCM and yes, I have the same thoughts with NS that there should be an offline 2p mode. Sometimes i wanna play with my girl or my friends together and not precisely online.
