I completely forgot about this thread. I'll post some impressions of anime series I recently saw.
shingeki no kyojin / attack on titan - first episode completely blew my mind, it's been ages since I saw a first episode that impressed me so much. right now we are at episode 13 and I have mixed feelings about this. while I still think it has the setting, the story, the characters of a top series, the pace is too slow. they could have done the last 4 episodes in 1 episode. still worth watching so far.
magi - decent shonen with an improbable arabian nights setting. at least is something fresh and the characters are ok.
kuroko no basket - I hate sports anime, but this one is great. a lot of impressive matches in rapid succession. great character design, animation, action, music.
mushibugyo - classic shonen full of clitches, bland and generic. dropped.
uchuu kyodai / space brothers - while the idea of two brothers following the dream of going to space is something really original, and many characters are well developed with a very "real life" behavior, this goes beyond the definition of slow paced. it was very very intersting for 20 episodes or so, but you get 10 episodes of absolutely nothing happening later. dropped.
hunter x hunter (2011) - I never saw the original series, but this one became easily one of my favorites. it's like a shonen without all of the shonen crap. sounds weird but it works. I thought it was chilidish at first since the main character is still a young boy but it will turn into a bloodshed really fast.
