Master of Mosquiton (マスターモスキートン) OVA opening

Forget Hellsing, Trinity Blood and Vampire Princess Miyu.

I've watched 60/74 episodes of Monster, and well, it's why I watch anime practically. For this kind of awesome.

New Berserk? now we just need new Guyver, because that's as badly needing finished to.

I don't see the new Berserk anime having a satisfying ending since the manga is no where near finished... And seeing as how Miura "just doesn't give a fuck" about anime endings I doubt he'll want to put one in this new show. The last anime was just a taste for people so they would start buying his books. I'm guessing this is how its going to be with this one.

Here's my prediction. The anime will end where the FANTASIA arc begins, since that's the next big turning point of the series. Which means after that... don't expect another Anime for 12 more years lol.

I am currently watching Soul Eater and Hetalia World Series. I have finished watching Grenadier, Hetalia Axis Powers, and Needless. As for Manga I am reading Hajime no Ippo, Highschool of the Dead, Air Gear, Needless, Teppuu, Deadman Wonderland, Franken Fran, Code Breaker, The Breaker, and I am about to start Air Master.

The FamilyFriendly...Fighter?!

Re: The Anime Thread
« Reply #67 on: 30 of September of 2010, 05:46:06 pm »

Question (and it's a very long shot one, at that): Is there ANY anime out there that is family-friendly (i.e. very minimal [if not entirely nonexistent] swearing) that isn't catered exclusively to kids?  (In other words, no Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh/etc. recommendations, please.)

Thank you very much for your time...and recommendations, if there are any at all...

I understand the way you feel, Berserk has been my favorite anime/manga for a long time. but when I first watched the anime I didnt know there was a manga and I  was so pissed about the ending, but now I read the manga too.....but yea I see this series either being severely edited or bad ending  Undecided

Kiki's Delivery Service, Howe's Moving castle, Azumanga Daioh is pretty family friendly, but be warned it does have some off color jokes due to the fact the cast is high school girls. Um...Honestly the really family friendly stuff you can see is literally Pokemon, Bakugan, YuGiOh, and anything else that keeps itself going with toy sells. Our family friendly and Asia's family friendly are not the same when it comes to the way East and West handle things. We tend to censor stuff as much as possible in our children's stuff during early childhood whilst they are much more willing to let what we find taboo pass as long its not too out of hand.

There is most likely even more anime that is child friendly and family oriented but I doubt a huge amount of them are known outside of the Japanese and may not even have a following on the internet. Things that cater to teens and adults are usually more risky so they pretty much won't be what you are looking for. Best bet is to follow the toy lines and go from there, just be aware that even then, Due to the way things are you will want to most likely watch things in english dub rather than subtitles because in the original version there is a small to fair bit of cussing in some of them.

And now for something for the MANLY SIDE:

Oh, it's not really that long shot, there's Master Keaton, all films by Hayao Miyazaki, Rune Soldier, Slayers, Neo Ranga, Master Of Mosquiton 99 (that's the TV series, the OAVs are... less family friendly), Aquarian Age, Escaflowne, Kazemakase Tsukikake Ran, Robotech/Macross and the majority of Leiji Matsumoto's work like Galaxy Express/Captain Harlock, etc.

Also Kulanator's more or less right nowadays about how the west handles children's cartoons, but it never used to be like that, wasn't when I was growing up, I feel all the stuff I watched in the early 90s was a perfect springboard to anime. I feel sorry for what the kids have to grow up watching now...
