New Castlevania: Lords of Shadow information
Quote
The producer confirms that the game includes different varieties in the environment, including “Refectory, Clock tower, Library.” David Cox also revealed that, although the soundtrack is original, a few classic Castlevania tunes will be “interwoven into it here and there.” Finally, a teaser picture of what seems to be a Slorgra enemy (which has appeared in previous titles) was posted:

I think it's confirmed they gave the main character the Belmont name. That is a smart move since it's already kind of betrayal to the fans making a new timeline.
Sigh, they should give 2-D Castlevania a chance on consoles, even if it's digital distribution online. Fighting games aren't the only games that age well with 2-D gameplay. Even a 2.5 Castlevania might of been better and still look more presentable.
They should remember Castlevania wouldn't have been popular/successful in modern times if it wasn't for Symphony of the Night, and that was a console only game that took advantage of console hardware, instead dealing with limitations and lower quality from portables (yet despite that, some ended up being pretty good, but they could have been so much better on console. Just imagine a Castlevania with Blazblue graphics, and classic 2-D platformer non-linear gameplay.)

You need some mental help if you think SoTN is the only game in the Castlevania repertoire that made the series famous in modern gaming. Its one of the best, but man Bloodlines is pretty damn memorable and 2D castlevania singlehandedly carried the DS I don't care what anyone says, Naruto ninja council be damned! Also if they made a console 2d I'd want Console version of Order of Ecclesia cause bitch don't know bout domina glyph!
Though on the topic at hand, Gabriel Belmont is interesting, but the new timeline/retcon timeline is very painful to me in a way. Yet as long as he does a good job at being a Belmont i am happy. This game better have some sort of Maria or Sypha like character though and she better be playable.

Castlevania always showed nice games...most of them =p
and kickassing chars such as ALucard ...the most popular for sure
and i love another one
Trevor Belmont on curse of darknes...
my god
that moves ,green laser effect on his whip + "pshyco crusher"
was pretty much cool
Dawn of sorrow togheter with Symphony of the night were a great revolution for the franchising...
I'm pretty excited about this new game...unfortunatelly since its a hideo kojima production,we are not going to watch "Cg's" =/
but anyway...its his style of making games that i love and respect at the same time...

the DS CVs should be brought to console. OOE was great, good thing I borrowed someone's DS to play it. I wouldn't of bought a DS to play them otherwise.
But I dunno about Lords of Shadow. Konami still thinks a console CV has to be 3-D these days. And what's worse is that its outsourced to a western developer. Kojima is checking on them from time to time, but overall I think it's not going to grasp the essence of Castlevania.

I am not a Slogra/Gaibon fan but damn that Slogra is awesome! He better be a boss!
And shall we turn this thread into a Castlevania thread or make a new thread for that?

Well, I believe it's time to open up a Castlevania thread since the spanish section also has one but I'm not exactly sure what to post up so I'll just post my favorite and worst games in tiers (in no order inside the tiers). My tiers change from season to season.
1) Awesome
Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Castlevania: Curse of Darkness
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles
2) Fun

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
3) Average
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
Castlevania Judgment
Castlevania: Bloodlines
Castlevania Chronicles
Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge
Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
4) Boring
Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

Gotta say, I'm looking forward to Lords of Shadow, looks like it could be the first really good 3D Castlevania, not to jinx it.
Looks like they're going for a God of War ish style, which is good, plus its got Hideo Kojima and his crew checking it out, consulting quality etc, so that's good.
Hmmm, I've gotta say, as a fan of classic horror movies and stuff I really dig the idea of the series, but Castlevania is really hit or miss with me.
For example, even my favorite Castlevania game Symphony of the Night isn't quite flawless to me. The upside down castle thing, to me it's just lazy design, and not as fun as the first half of the game.
I really like the original Castlevania on NES, solid game. I also dig Castlevania 3, and Dracula X / Rondo of Blood. Curse of Darkness is okay.
For some reason I've never beaten any of the DS ones, I just play some of 'em and they don't really grab me.

I'm also looking forward to Lords of Shadow. The only thing that bugs me from day one is that it's going to be a whole new timeline. Basically after about 20 years, alot of us just don't feel like going back to step 1.
As for the graphics, atmosphere, gameplay, etc, that's what's pulling me into this game. All the other 3D Castlevania games looked so plain and dry.

lol, some would rank CoM WAY HIGHER than HoD. For that matter HoD would be ranked lowest as possible.
I don't really care though; my fav. Castlevanias ATM are HoD, PoR and CoD.
...and a new timeline isn't really a big deal; it's just a different take on the mythos. Speaking of which, any new gameplay vids for Lord of Shadows?

From the general crowd, out of the GBA games, HoD would be lowest just like you said and out of the DS games, OoE would be the highest but I consider my tastes weird.
Other than the music and lame bosses in HoD, I found it fun. The atmosphere is awesome and I liked how the castle layout was rather well, complicated.
I don't mind the new timeline that much but I'm afraid it may fail. Although the old timeline is a large mess, I don't think it's bad enough to get rid of it. They could start getting rid of some games to make the timeline better. Basically if the new timeline fails and they will only use that one from now on, alot of fans will be very disappointed. It's like saying that KOF 99 never had Kyo and Iori and while the K' saga is subjective when it comes to whether people liked the story or not, lets say if it failed and there was no Kyo and Iori, fans would rage because there is no turning back for the K' story and there is no sighting of the core characters that made the story interesting.
And AFAIK, there aren't new gameplay vids of LoS but you can always read the LoS blog.
I'm up for LoS, but alot of other people aren't as far as I can see on other forums.

I found out that this game is being developed by the team who developed Clive Barker's Jericho, which I just played through and loved it.
Actually makes me think that has a bit more potential than I originally thought because Jericho showed these guys can do atmosphere.
