I just say 3 words...
GAME OVER!
SNK
Ex moves copyed from SFIII, control+C Control+V from KOF XII
raiden and mature in the game ( wtf are they thinking..?),iori with that screwed move
(qcb+ A or C ... where is the good and old school qcb+A or C 3x ?)
I really think they have to postpone this game for more 1 or 2 years
and bring something really better.
Only few chars,i really would like to see oswald again and other cool chars that didnt appear on the previous game.
Just to finish : I really think they made something in a hurry to try to compete with
SSFIV , but again, Snk will lose the fight.Maybe now the company will close and we will only remember of its good and old titles that made our days happy...
R.I.P.
Snk
Ps:nothing yet about 2k2 um american version or they won't release it?
Ermmm well, while I'm not exactly the most positive person regarding XII (and still bti skeptic of XIII success, to be perfectly blunt), I do think this rant was definitely out of context. The
who's copy who
thingie has been around since SNK/Capcom started their fighting game career, I would even dare to say without this each-other-borrowing thingie you mentioned, the whole 2D fighting scene couldn't have existed.
Raiden and Mature... well, Raiden it's a bulky character that somehow it's still a classic and a favorite (or why he's been appearing constantly in other titles like Fatal Fury Wild Ambition, CVS, etc.), as for Mature we know it's not only her, but wanted to put both Mature AND Vice in the final product, considering this is a re-boot of the series with classic teams.
As for the quantity of characters... really, is it necessary a huge cast to be a hot game? SFIII3S, Garou MOTW, hell, even BB are examples of sort cast yet hot gaming.
I think this opinion was way too opinionated and out of basis. I recommend you to reconsider twice before posting. Seriously.
AND THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL OF YOU, LITTLE PUNKS!
Whereas there's controversial
opinions
in this forum, you guys must keep your cool ALWAYS and
NEVER GO PERSONAL!
I also don't agree with his opinion but I'd never go in a personal, offending manner. Either all of you keep it civil or I close this thread and turn off the fucking hype that it's going beyond control. Attitudes like this undermined Cyberfanatix 2.0 fame and took us points away from the fighting game community, now I'm in charge and I won't let this happen again, YOU HEAR ME!?
Good boys, keep it civil.

Do all the frames for one character and send it to someone at SNK. Slave Labor for rizzle.

I'm probably THE biggest Gai fan in the world, but I don't see him getting in this game. I'm really thinking about starting my own "NO GAI, NO BUY!" campaign.
Nah...my Gai fandom is bigger
, but for real... a character like him and Oswald are too awesome to leave behind.

I know that last part, but I couldn't remember if he had invincibility in XII =/
I feel like it had invincibility to high heaven in XII....only bested by Joe's DP.
I am so glad to see that you can actually tech a throw now...I don't know who was smoking the wackie tabaccie and made the call to omit this from KOFXII. I still have my issues with only one winning pose, but thats not enough to make a true issue. They should atleast give Terry his slide-kick move back...

Here's the Google translated version but they misspelled some of the name of the moves!

Here's the translation Look like everything has changed since KOFXII

I'll see what I can do.
System notes:
CHANGES FROM THE PREVIOUS VERSION
=================================
GRAPHICS
- Characters are smaller and it's easier to see the full screen.
- As of now there aren't any stages that make it hard to see the characters.
SYSTEM
- All KOFXII systems (CC, sousai, guard attack) have been removed
- BAKUSUTE(?) has probably not been made shorter (wtf is bakusute? it's written in katakana)
- Throws are back to lever + button motion
- Kara cancels are possible again.
GAME SYSTEM
===========
8- way lever + 4 buttons.
COUNTER HITS
Counter hits have a blue effect when they occur, similar to KOFXII but the effect isn't the same.
A few counter hit animations are like KOFXII but the window is short, sort of like the interval between dashing and doing a strong attack.
GUARD CRUSH
Guard meter under the lifebar, your guard drops when it becomes empty. However at the current time it seems to recover much faster than it's lost, so there haven't been that many guard crushes seen. On top of that it looks like the guard crush window is very tight so it's very hard to take advantage of it. Wondering if drive attacks will have a bigger effect on the guard meter.
GUARD CANCEL
Revived from older games. Costs 1 power stock. Does damage, but not possible to KO with it.
STUN
This has also returned. However unlike XI there's no visible stun meter so it's not possible to know when it's going to happen.
POWER GAUGES
Return of multiple power stocks. You get one additional stock per team member that you lose (much like earlier games). Feels like they charge up faster than in previous games.
EX SPECIAL MOVES/DESPERATION MOVES
Use 1 stock to do powered up specials or DMs. The powering up depends on the move - might be more damage, invincibility, etc.
EX specials have a blue shadow sort of effect to them while EX DMs are red (versus yellow for regular DMs)
DRIVE GAUGE
Green gauge above the power gauge. The length increases by 50% every time you lose a character (so that the gauge is twice as long when you're down to your last character). Fills up at about the same rate as the power gauge, so pretty quickly. However, whiffing special moves will not fill the drive gauge (although it still fills the power gauge).
DRIVE CANCEL
Can be used as soon as the drive gauge passes 50%, which means that on your last character it can be used up to four times.
You can cancel special moves as well as command moves that couldn't normally be cancelled into other special moves and DMs.
HYPERDRIVE MODE
Press BC when the drive gauge is maxed out to activate. Your character will have a sort of hazy afterglow and will be able to do as many drive cancels as he wants. The gauge doesn't fall faster if you do a cancel like in '02. However if you take any damage the mode ends.

Looking at the character-specific stuff next.

Are the sprites filtered?
Absolutely.
Exhibit A:
http://cache-04.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/03/062.jpg
Here you can see the sprites in their native resolution, unscaled and unfiltered. They are sharp and crisp.
Exhibit B:
http://cache-09.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/03/041.jpg
Here you can see the sprites scaled up to about 150% of their original resolution. There is a smoothing filter at work here, you should be able to tell by comparing the 2 screenshots, as well as simply comparing the sprites to the backgrounds. The contrast between the sharp backgrounds and the "smoothed", blurred character sprites should be obvious. The characters look downright muddy on top of those backgrounds.
I'll admit that it doesn't look quite as bad as KOF XII's filtering was (it could be turned off in the options, thankfully), and the fact that this game is more zoomed out than KOF XII was also helps mitigate the "pixelation" issue that some people complained about (I actually liked it). However, I think it would look a
lot
better if the sprites weren't filtered at all. Though the fact that the pixel scaling of the sprites is less than double means that the sprites would probably be harder (maybe impossible) to scale up smoothly while remaining pixel-perfect.
Here's something I put together to illustrate why I don't like what they've done with the sprites:
http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u105/belthegor/xiivsxiii.png
On the left is XII (unfiltered), on the right is XIII. Both are displayed in the game's native resolution (720p).

Filtered or not filtered, what's the difference? We used to play it anyways when it was really pixeled, I'll focus as usual on game play, not resolution, pixels whatever, it does look better, but for me, that's only a plus, you know what I'm saying?

Eh, people were confused about whether or not the sprites were filtered so I wanted to put the debate to rest. I prefer the pixelated look.

edit: Did anyone at the beta ask a follow up about this?

Interesting match. Joe still looks powerful... and Clark still seems to be a fucking weenie (come on, seems the hcf K grab lost range!).
I liked the display of EX moves, definitely change the pace of the game, loved when Yagami landed on an EX Hurricane upper that launched 3 hurricanes.
And that final picture of Mature looks real nice... i wanna take a closer look at it.
