Wow, so looks like popularity for this game really picked up, eh? I'm kinda surprised. Though, I did stumble accross a new copy of the game for 9.99 so I just had to pick it up, dispite all my bitching about the horrible character designs. OK, only some are horrible, really, but even with the better ones I think they're crazy not to have played the fanservice card and made the characters actually look the way they should (who else was this really for but the fans?). So, I've played it and actually enjoyed it! I think it was a good and original take on fighting games, over all. Especialy surprising coming from Konami.. i mean, how many fighters have they made? (does Zone of the Enders 2's 2 player mode count?) But I think a lot of the credit goes to the music... but man, it has combo videos on CX? I think I should go back to the game and get a bit deeper into things...

Game flopped before it was even released because of all the fanboys being disappointed that the character designs were changed and that it's a fighter or their favorite character not making it in. In fact, you'll still see people try so hard to bash this game every chance they get. I don't mind people hating on the game, but they should at least give valid reasons to why they hate it. Game is pretty terrible but it's at least worth it on discounted price. And yes, I did in fact hate this game with a passion back then.

The Castlevania fanbase is really shitty IMO.

Well, I'm kinda part of that fanbase and I do still hate the character design, and any disapointments I had coupled with the bad reviews from critics, fans, and fighting game fans kept me away from it even more in the end. I knew it'd go down to a cheap price eventually after that kind of response, so I waited (though I was always still interested in the soundtrack). It IS just an OK game in my opinion, and it'd be one of my least recommended Castlevania titles. I still stongly dislike some aspects of the game, but I don't hate the game in general, like most games it has its ups and downs. I don't really hate any game. Some people are just ignorant/closedminded haters and loud mouths though, what can you do? Some people can just be stubborn and like to put their foot down if even the slightest disapointment repels their wallets (possibly thin ones to begin with). Hell, I'm actually kinda like that with SF4, admitably. I still feel right now that there's enough reason for me to not bother with the game (though many may not find my reasons legitimate enough, but it's my taste and not theirs so...), so I just don't bother with it. I've got enough on my plate as it is. But I don't have the additude to go and tell people who do like the game that their game "sucks", that's what makes the assholes. I reserve passing judgement on the game since I haven't played it, and I'll always reserve that judgement unless I finally play it and play it well enough. Every fanbase has assholes, I really haven't seen it more or less worse in any fanbase I've been in.

I'm pretty disapointed in Castlevania LoS too so far, but do I go and rage to fangroups? no. Still, I think I reserve the right to express even a negative opinion in a proper enough fashion. Though I find i'm still told to be "bitching" no matter how softly I try to put my opinion across, so that's why I'm just avoiding any place with the name "Castlevania" on it right now (as well as any place with the name "Lufia" or "Street Fighter").

I hate to mention it again, but I still laugh at the way the word "fanboy" is thrown around these days. Something about its use kinda just sets me off... Tongue

But do you break objects in your house because your favorite character changed appearance or do you try to burn down Konami or go out of your way to destroy their reputation because your favorite character wasn't in the game? That's the difference between "fan" and "fanboy", unless you want me to use another word to replace fanboy such as obsessed lamer.

I also dislike them because they never talk about the actual game, they just talk about the trivial things with a passion like if Richter ever got laid or if Dracula and Death ever had undead sex before due to being lonely at the top of the castle.

I don't like the character design for Judgment but it never got in my way of trying to play the game. I hated the game for the gameplay. As for LoS, I'm not exactly interested but I will still play it, unlike fanboys who refuse to play it for any pathetic reason such as it's not made by IGA or that the main character looks too manly.

If you buy Castlevania games to play rather than to fap to the front cover of Shanoa and gang, then you're still a "fan". This goes for almost any game series, but IMO, Castlevania is one of the series that has it worst when it comes to the fanbase.

Every gamer has a bit of fanboyism in them but true fanboys put themselves to total shame yet they think it's so cool to be that way. There's a reason why people on this site such as affinity has over -100 points.

I have never fapped to anything Castlevania related. Though I will say this, I am partial to female leads over male leads usually. Though Richter was the most manly of Belmonts.

I am also partial to female leads over male leads and Richter is also my fav Belmont of them all. Tongue

But basically, my post was trying to say that fanboys exaggerate.

Fanboys are so strange, they are like little girls with huge crushes on a their favorite singer in a band. They gotta be just the way they are when they fall in love with them or the whole career is ruined regardless of whether the things after that point were good or not. Fangirls are much less tame, but way less over exaggerated too. They love everything to the point of psychotic rage, but they hate any outside influences. The are like religious fanatics. Lots of catty rules and such, but the hate is well though out.

C'mon Julius was the man... 40 years old, manly beard, and still kickin ass.

He should of been in Judgement. But fffffffffffff, knowing Konami, they would of put in Soma if they were gonna use anyone from the Sorrow saga. Fuck Soma.

I do like Trevor alot though... I dig his eye patch in Judgement, but damn, did they give him enough buckles and belts?

Konami should do another Judgment, I'm convinced they could really nail a sequel after learning from all of their mistakes here.

You know, the moment I think "okay, if I see this game for cheap, I'll give it a shot" and at that moment I cease seeing it anywhere.

Quite annoying Tongue

As for what I think of the game, I think they should have picked another artist because I do not like the Death Note guy's style at all, and making Maria a Loli is just one of those things that articulates what I hate about otaku culture. On the other hand, Carmilla is pretty hot... overall I'd like to give the game a chance and look past the artistic hangups.

"Making Maria a loli"? That's what she's always been in pretty much everything but Symphony.

I agree with both of these. I would've rather had a Judgment 2 than that Harmony of Disorder game, I really would love to see an improved version of the game that's actually good, but oh well.

You could always get it on ebay or other sites like play-asia for only like 15 dollars. Tongue
