Devil May Cry 5 The Secret Gameplay Trailer [HD]
Hmm ... is this supposed to be a bad game ? Because, at least from an action point of view, its looking great.
I made the mistake of buying Heavenly Sword and renting Enslaved thinking they would have fun combat, you're not going to fool me a 3rd time with your fancy trailers Ninja Theory! Also the game running at only 30 frames per second instead of the 60 like the others does show. I also heard the game has less variety of weapons (according to gamespot preview), that the weapons are limited to 3 and each one are tied to his human, demon, and angel form, which further makes it a step back from DMC3 (a issue with Nero is DMC4) by less variety.
Also Crim the general reason this game is getting so much hate isn't really the combat, it's the designs and the guys making it really not knowing the lore. You know, Dante is half demon and half human, yet in this game he now has a angel form (that somes messed up genetics logic right there), when it supposadly takes place before the previous 4 and them trying to force it into previous DMC canon while also being a reboot.
The main reason for the hate Crim should be obvious though. They took a franchise that is very Japanese in the over the top nature of its cutscenes, combat, and characters, and then, well as Capcom put it, "Westernized it." Inafune said a little bit before he left Capcom that DMC was a series populsr in Japan but they wanted to make it appeal to Westerners, which was the idea for the next DMC game, then the new DMC was announced sometime later.
There was a interview with Capcom in which they openly admitted they told Ninja Theory to make designs that they (Capcom) wouldn't like since they felt that would help make the DMC series appeal to Westerners. It's just missing that style that made DMC, you know, DMC, now it's just kind of a Western action game that mimmicks DMC. It also doesn't help that Ninja Theory come off as huge d-bags in interviews (especially with blatant insults to Kamiya a few times), that keep telling fans they know what fans want more than fans want. The 30 frames per second gameplay, opposed to 60, also didn't go over to well with people either. Plus the fact Ninja Theory's games have not really been that great and had very shallow combat that put graphics, story, and audio above gameplay and polish doesn't really make most people optimistic.
Or the short version, Ninja Theory took the soul out of what made DMC what it is, which didn't go over well with fans.
