Well, after all the stuff from last week it turned out okay I delivered my assigment at night. And today was my first day working at the library got a job as a clerk on the reception, it was okay, now i'll be working everyday from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM and NONE SHALL PASS the reception with a bag on my watch ... it's part of the job. xD

In fact i'd say that compared to last friday i'd say things aren't too bad right now.

For the last couple of days Ive been hammering Final Fight and was skillfull lucky enough to make it to the number one slot on the global leaderboards, I got knocked a few places but climbed back up, eventually settling in at No. 3 whilst trying to improve my score AND lower my admittedly awful "lives lost" count. It almost, God forbid, felt like playing in the arcades again, checking the high score table and working to remain a contender.

Now, No.1 is permanantly occupied by some guy who let badguys respawn for about 3 hours, he has spent hundreds of lives maxing out the score counter to 9999999 and is now cemented as No.1. As his score cannot be beaten, only tied, more people will predictably copy his tactics and all the top spots will be taken up by 9999999's scored in 3 hour play sessions.

A real shame, but I'm not so jaded that I dont realise this is what happens with ALL games nowadays, I havent seen a leaderboard in a while that wasnt at least a little bit screwy once you get to the top 100.
It is only a game, and I'm not CRYFACE or anything, but, for a couple of days at least, it was nice to be one of the highest scoring players of something as I'm not a great gamer and rarely make it into the Top 10 of anything. Final Fight is just a game I've played forever since it was first released.

This isn't a rant, and it certainly isn't a "real" problem and I'm most definately NOT looking for any sympathy. It's just disappointing that so many, but not all, game leaderboards never come down to who is best, just who is first to exploit some design flaw.
Like I said though, it's only a game, there are much bigger issues in life..

@Eddie, Congrats on your Library job, rule that desk with a hand of steel  Wink

Meh, it's the same shit. Some people use bots or use other unfair exploits to fuck up the score trying to put their "enormous" dick at the top but rest assured the fucker didn't played it fairly and square.

If you really wanna impress or try something worth to be done do either a Speedrun, a Scorerun, a no lives lost speedrun, etc. and upload it. I think it's the only legal way to show real skill if you don't use assistance.

And fi you use assistance well then put a disclaimer and upload it in TASvideos. Smiley

BTW, in my nubile days I used to beat the game in higher difficulty with Cody, no lives lost... but that was circa 1991 or 1992. In those days the internet wasn't that accessible (at least not in Mexico) and no way to record it... so, you might only have to take my word on it, cuz I've been a big big big follower of Final Fight since the beginning.

As far as I know, I don't think there are any leaderboards that are played fair. All the ones I know have cheaters as top players. You can simply hack the game, disconnect if you're losing, etc.

Talking about this...

NO ONE believes me, I should have recorded or something, but back in n64 I had 2 games only starfox 64 and mario 64, and I played everyday I could.

I could fnish starfox 64 in any of the level branches without taking damage, and making the best explosion combos possible

I wouldnt be surprised that i hade the best world record or something xD

This is my best game achievement ever and I didnt even though about recording it i-i

@OLUK ... Its still a problem and YES it would stress anyone out, How is it fair when a person that cheats gets to a higher place when you were the one that deserves that spot ? that would piss me off to be honest. It feels the same when you study really hard for an exam and someone comes and cheats and gets a higher undeserved grade than you.

Anyone can say anything here guys, no judgements, no strings attached.

I know what you guys are saying ... its like you exist but you just don't exist so you seclude yourself to hide everything thinking that it would make things a little easier but it doesn't because you are just too ... invisible. I have been pushing everyone i know in real life away, the ones that are noticing are increasing by the week and now alot of people are mad at me for "disappearing".

Just the last part about people being mad at me isn't true, it's more like I fade away and people just forget I was there to begin with.
For me, I feel that way because I still haven't found my place between people, like there's no one out there who's remotely similar to me. In fact everytime I meet new people it doesn't take long before I feel out of place and go away before I get dissapointed by feeling like I don't belong there. And as a result of that behavior not only I keep things to myself i'm also becoming more reserved both out there in town and here on the internet.

why you should be reserved in internet too? nobody knows you, just say whatever you want.

I don't like to be in a group to begin with so I guess it can be helped. I have a very negative opinion of society nowadays, in particular I think that when the new generation will grow up as adult, well the world is done for.

I've seen all of kind of stupidity but "kids" nowadays never caese to amaze me and technology is providing them all the necessary stuff to become more and more stupid

Well, lately, i'm hardly interested on people I have added on MSN it's nothing personal (as far as the folks around here are concern) but when I talk to people over at the messenger it hardly goes so far which always leaves me thinking if i'm uncapable of carrying on a conversation for too long, it's a vicious cicle that usually leaves me depressed.

And the whole say whatever you want cuz it's the internetz just feels like an excuse people use for acting like idiots, which is why I apreciate the boards here since there's always a good discussion going on without being overly serious or flat-out 4chan'ing this place into randomness and stupidity.

Oh well, this is for most of you that I already know barely or have an idea who you are according for our conversations or from what I've been seeing so far these years at CX:

I know most of you, one way or another, are too different from the rest of your community. You guys have lots of things that outstand others or simply you don't like the stuff most people do or like. And that's when it comes this feeling of isolation.

I don't know if I have the answer to all of this... but i guess one of the things that made me change my view in life (cuz i was feeling the same when i was younger, yearning to fit in the society) is STOP TRYING TO FIT. One of the biggest mistakes I've done was to pretend someone i really wasn't just to be accepted by the other... but somehow I was forgetting who I really was (I guess this is a part of identity problems that many people face).

My advice? Accept and love your real self. Get to know you more, be realistic (with realistic i don't mean pessimistic, cuz that what some kids take as a self-pity crutch pointing out ONLY their flaws but forgetting their real virtues and perks, that's not realism), develop your good points and accept but try to clean up your flaws and be proud for whatever you are. Don't pretend to be higher or lower than you are... I guess that's the hardest part of everything: Have a good self-esteem (and don't mind the envious fuckers who call you arrogant when you're just being realistic with yourself, i guess by that time you should know who you really are). I guess as soon you have a good self-esteem, you'll start to get people around you... and the feeling of loneliness will be gone, why? cuz the real people who go to you will accept you as YOU REALLY ARE.

Okay, enough of stupid psychology, I'm just telling you my experience and what took me all these 32 years of my life. It might work for you, it might not... but give it a try if you see it fit.
