KOF XIII coming Soon
« on: 28 of December of 2009, 03:55:02 am »

The French gaming website ( Jeuxactu ) has interviewed Mr. Kukino ( Producer of KOF XII ) during TGS 2009, according to the website the next episode of KOF installment is coming soon.

You know maybe not but this year, SNK Playmore has not seen fit to install a booth at the Tokyo Game Show 2009. The lack of new titles and the need to make some economies are undoubtedly the main reasons for absenteeism. This has not prevented Masaaki Kukino, the branch responsible for Research & Development at SNK Playmore, and incidentally the producer on the game The King of Fighters XII, to be back at the show. Her presence did we not escape and we are eager to interview him about the future and the next episode in KOF coming soon. This is a little restraint that evokes the forthcoming The King of Fighters XIII in front of our camera. It signed an exclusive JeuxActu.

Very cool news, I can't wait for King of Fighters XIII.  Cool

My top two requests would be the characters in my sig who aren't in XII: Mai Shiranui and Blue Mary.

And of course, a single player story.

(I have to say, the board organization is a bit interesting. How come we don't have a general King of Fighters board, to post something like this topic on?)

Well i am new to cyberfanatix .... so even if there is a place to post something like this i don't know about it.

As for adding characters , they should add at least 8 new characters .After all people are going to compare KOF XIII with SSF 4.

It doesn't matter how many characters they add if they don't get their priorities in orders.

First of all, they need to allocate their time and money wisely, drop this huge art style crap and do some abit more budget conscious and focus less on looks and more on making complete, useful characters. In XII you have characters like Ash, Terry, Iori, Kyo, and Joe who perfectly built. The you have Athena, Kim, Daimon, and Benimaru who are ok but need a bit more work, then you have Kensou, Mature, Clark and Elizabeth who are severely butchered and lacking. Matureand Clark suffering the worst, but Kensou and Elizabeth are just lacking and Elizabeth especially needs work cause in XII she glitchy with having about two atttacks that stop working when she has a full critical counter gauge. Then you have Shen Woo who has all his moves just about, but then he has all then extra follow ups that I have never seen anyone even bother trying to use because simply refuse to come out. Leona and Ralf are just different for the sake of being different in Leona's case its a change that works, but in Ralf's case they made him like a Kevin Rian rip off.

They need to revamp the characters and make them play in a way that is more usefu and true to the characters. Second of all they need to go back to using character themes, the music they have for XII is terrible. It is by far one of the least satisfying snk soundtracks I have ever listened to. The gamd stages also needed to be toned down in terms of distractions such as the crowds of worshipers in the Egypt stage. They need to also make changes to the system.

System Changes I'd like to see:
Removal of CCs: They aren't really all that useful and turn the game into a mash C till a counter hit lands. Then you have to do a few very specific combos to get the most damage out of the meter or just spam the same special attack. Its a Gimmick that is  pretty useless.

Redo Clashing/Deadlock system: I understand that they wanted to make the game abit more free in terms of how to handle attacks meeting attacks, but the clashing system is too free with a simple punch clashing with a projectile and attacks that should trade instead clashing arbitrarily. It needs to be tightened up.

Changes throws back to one button: KoF just worked better with one button throws and this change happening is just because its in SF4. SNK needs to stop basing some of its mechanics decisions on what is in other games.

He's always had exploding fists. If that's the case, then Kevin is a ripoff of him.

You can't mash C. I've shown both you and cactusmomma that that shit don't work. I've seen most matches go without a CC going off, because they're actually quite risky. Most of the time you can see it coming and counter it.

Two button grabs are fine. I don't like one button grabs, especially when you have to be ridiculously close to pull them off. It prevents accidental grabs, because this was a problem in some games where it's near impossible to pull off certain command moves because they coincide with the grab.

One button throws aren't really a problem. I don't see people using tick throws in KOF.

The only changes that I would like to see are: more characters, more stages, more moves per characters, a story mode a la KoF '97 and a challenge mode, also more command moves like Terry's Hammer Punch. Something to lengthen the combos.

What I do like are the deadlocks/sousai, though you can counter a projectile, you still take damage. Also, depending on what you are countering, you have the option to immediately attack afterwords.

As far as the critical counters go, leave them alone. If you get caught by one, then that is your problem, because that is something that you can see coming a mile away.

Also, I want people to have a little more faith. Wink

I agree on the color edit. But, the Critical Counter, maybe change them a bit to have more meaning to them.

I'm not gonna go for wishlists but i hope that KOF XIII would be more satisfying 1player wise.

Anyone that tries to get into CC by mashing C/D will get punished. Its not hard to punish someone that is trying to get into CC.....A simple A/B would suffice as its still giving damage to them.

Education on this game is still needed because anyone that say CC is spammable is ignorant. For most novice / new players Id expect that they would just mash a button to get into it but in higher level games you dont see it as much nor getting spammed either.
