Okay, here's some interesting read about how gaming it's becoming quickly into a steamy pile of greedy shit!

http://www.cracked.com/blog/the-6-most-ominous-trends-in-video-games/

Those money making models make me sick, all those online check up suck, all gimmicks, infinite payment and bullshit it's only driving me to continue being a retro-gamer or dig in the freewares and homebrews that most of the cases deliver more QUALITY than any other bullshit!

That's quite a good read. It covers most of the major problems with the industry.

Here's another good reading about how fucking Digital Distribution is fucking us up. Yup, this reinforces my point that buying nothing but bites, megas, gigas is buying canned air! Fuck digital distribution, really! Nothing like old school gaming!

Another good read, and it's deftly some good points when it comes to console distribution also issues with Steam which are a very solid point. I mean I bought FEAR 3 on disc and it's now bound only to my Steam account, so I can't borrow it or anything.

the part from digital downloads is clearly from a non-pc gamer because steam is what is keeping the pc community still alive.

Digital downloads work perfectly fine. if you don't have internet nowadays what's the point in owning a pc?

Deftly, Steam and GOG work great I got a lot of games on my Steam account right now.

But i'll give credit to the guy that it's kinda lame that games on disc now require that you have Steam installed in order to play, so let's say that in the unlikely event that Steam shuts it's door's (Like I said UNLIKELY) I might not be able to play the game again depending if I have to install Steam again or if the game has some of the most annoying DRM and whatnot.

they had to try some anti-piracy method. it's the wrong way, though

if steam shut down in a couple of years (pretty much impossibile since they make tons of money) is no diffent then what happened with microsoft cutting servers for xbox 1 games, you will be able to play them only offline.

Ok i've started playing Duke Nukem Forever ...

Damn, the demo left me with some good impressions but the full version, i'll quote Duke "What a mess", some stages are big enough and nice to look at while others are short, ugly and really doesn't justify having to load between one and the other and whenever the action starts to get a little interesting it's cut short only to have another turret sequence or driving or puzzle or platforming, though the platforming isn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it drags on so long that when there's action you really can't get excited for it. not to mention some texture issues every now and then. Right now i'm in the Ghost Town after a looooooooong driving sequence. I can deftly see why this game got bashed so hard.

Yeah well, some of us did enjoy it. I actually liked the variety it offered.

But yeah, it wasn't for everyone, definitely not. I just hated that some people got so fucking offended by it that they gave it more attention than they themselves should have and made us who liked it feel hounded for it.

Personally even if I had liked it less, I still would not have minded buying it and here's why: I do wanna see more Duke games in the future, made from scratch, by Gearbox. Forever is a product not of them, but something they finished. But it needed to sell to show them there's interest for more games. It's done that now which is good. Hopefully people give Gearbox a proper chance with the license.

I'm well aware it's not Gearbox fault, in fact i'm right with you on that one, I wanna see another Duke game and hopefully to be the Duke game we're expecting to be in a realistic expectations, not the hype they were trying to build for DNF.

Also, well, I can't blame them for putting those driving and turret sequences to break up the action, even the 2001 trailer hinted that there would be some of those, but there's so many of them and lots of them are separated by a loading screen it breaks the pace in a bad way, in fact the pacing of the game is just all over the place, I do applaud that they kept some things like messing with the environment and the ego boost ain't such a bad idea, though I still think they should have gone with the Health-points of the days of old and keep the ego like armor or something, i'm not completely opposed to regenerative health but i've going in about this game doing as much as I can to boost the ego and still one shot and i'm already nearly dead it just feels pointless to boost it, also the two weapon limit is bullshit.

Well until we see if another Duke game will be made I can still hope that Serious Sam 3 will deliver on more old-school dick around, gun tons of enemies and being able to have more guns than eyeballs.

Serious Sam is going to be the shit.

You know, a good finished game, unlike Duke Nukem Forever.

Ok, finished Duke Nukem Forever.

I stand by saying that it's average at best. And it's kinda ironic that the game does admit that it's got a shit ending...

...Literally! Well, guess it's time to wait for Serious Sam or a sequel that does Duke justice.

Sorry for the double post, just something I want to get your point-of-view on this.

I've been reading around and I saw the announcement that Diablo 3 not only will prohibit modding and have a market system to trade itens for real cash and will have the players to stay online at all times when you play it.

So okay, the mod thing I can live without never saw any good mods on Diablo games other than the expansions, but market system, isn't that more like rolling with the problem instead of solving it? I know this stuff of selling itens has been going on in just about every MMO and Diablo 2, but wouldn't it be better to have better security measures against bots or a report option against people want to sell itens in-game not to mention to avoid having people thinking it'll be a "good idea" to try and live off by playing Diablo 3, doesn't that beat the purpose of playing a game? I think we all play games to have fun not to make it your job. And the online thing I get it it's mainly to avoid that people will cheat and spawn lots of legendary itens to sell for the highest bidder, but it looks lie this whole auction system is a shot on blizzard's own foot. People won't be able to play it offline unless they pirate and crack the game.

I was already on-the-fence as to whatever or not i'd buy StarCraft 2 since it came out with no Lan play and region locked for online. But all of this for Diablo 3, that's a big no-no for me, I barely played Diablo 1 and 2 online and really I would rather go thru a first-playthru of Diablo 3 without anybody nagging at me to buy their shit or join their party, but apparently, that ain't gonna happen.

Anyway enough of my rant, gimme your two cents.

I think it's really stupid and basically seals my choice of not getting it. I mean, it's bad enough that it looks and plays like an HD remake of D2, but having no offline play, a IRL currency system that will unbalance the game and undesirable money grinders?

Thanks, but no thanks Blizzard. I thought you were cool, but this and StarCraft II have just let me down.
