I've just finished my first run of Silent Hill Downpour and must admit I'm really liking this game. I'll write down a whole review of the game as soon I do my second run and unlock all trophies.

That's good to hear. I'm glad to see someone enjoy it. Smiley

Anyway, what are your favorite parts of the game? and would you recommend it to someone like me for example?

As long as you like survival horror games, liked previous Silent Hill games, and don't mind some really bad technical issues (framerate in particular), then Downpour would probably be a solid buy for you.

I like Resident Evil, even though I only have RE5 atm (Getting the Japanese version of the Chronicles HD Selection for Christmas).

But I do hope that getting Downpour and the HD Collection are worth the $100 I would have to go through for both games.

AFAIK the SH HD collection isn't very good, some visual elements aren't well done to the point of the game showing lots of flaws and there's still lots of bugs that weren't even in the original games.

This review highlights some of the bigger problems the collection has.

Well, SHD has the feel of the classic Horror Survivors, it's gritty, detailed, very atmospheric. I liked the St. Maria's Orphanage or the Centennial Tower, but in general the town and the outskirts are greatly modeled.

The side missions are particularly beautiful (if I can put it some way) and give out tons of life to the SH mythos.

So yeah, I recommend it to you. Has its flaws like a shitty battle system (well, characters are ordinary human beings without a proper training, but regardless it's still crappy), some annoying clipping bugs (sometimes you get stuck in areas that you're exploring (and mind you, i'm the type that loves to explore every single niche of a SH map), but these flaws are minimal to the storyline, the "beauty" of the place and the terror feeling surrounding you.

Honestly...I personally hate this game from the bottom of my heart. There are reasons why I prefer Black Ops over MW3 anyway.

Will this blackout save this piece of shit? I doubt it. Black Ops is superior, and hackers completely destroyed the community of MW3.

Meh the CoD series hasn't really gone anywhere since MW1.

But since we're talking about shooters I finished Wolfenstein (The latest), it was ok, the veil powers and energy weapons are fun to use and there's a decent number of enemy types, but it doesn't really stand out, it's fun for a weekend, I beated it in a little less then 10 hours.

This is good news for me Tongue, The 3DS crossover between Capcom, Namco and Sega is actually going to be a game that is like namco X Capcom on the PS2, not sure how many people played it but it is a favorite of mine, im glad that they are taking it another step further.

Oh yeah, i really enjoyed that one actually. I liked the weapon upgrade system (your basic rifle went from your basic rifle to a head popping sniper rifle with a bayonet, that's badass)

I think it stood out; but it's not hard to in the FPS genre these days, just being fun feels like a great and uncommon thing.

It shouldn't be, but oh well Tongue

Just saw a kind of interesting Q&A article on gamespot about fighting games featuring several developers and others.

Been playing Serious Sam 3: BFE for the last couple of days, haven't got too far yet, but wow i'm really having fun with it.

It's still familiar ground for people who played old school shooters (specially the other Serious Sam games) but they changed a couple of things to make it feel a like bit more like todays shooters such as some guns having iron or red dot sights, also the sledgehammer is a good weapon, it's powerful to take out most enemies in one blow and you can do three attacks with it a fast vertical swing, a horizontal but wider swing and a 360 horizontal swing in case you're surrounded, the special melee kills can also be very useful against enemies like the Kleer's and the larger arachnids they're not cheap to the point of being exploitable you pull those off against hordes you'll take a lot of damage while the animation is going despite the instant-kills moves being fast.

But at it's heart it's still the same horde killing fun that keeps you on your toes forcing you to constantly look around everywhere to make sure you won't get blindsided by your enemies just like the previous games, though it's not as colorful as First Encounter and not as good looking as other shooters out there the visuals have nice touches to it, it's rather understandable why the visuals aren't very good since the game has very large maps to fight in. The boss battles i've had so far have been really fun and challenging, the Warship for instance was pretty awesome.

Also the hippie and kids options to censor the blood are hilarious.

I expect some new games in the series or a PSN/XBLA re-release of the first two in the near future.

I guess with getting the rights everything is possible, they didn't do that for nothing, maybe they have future plans !
